WhatsApp is implementing new rules for message template usage.

Starting April 1st, if a business misclassifies its templates (e.g., marking a marketing message as “utility”), WhatsApp may apply penalties.

To avoid issues, make sure to:

  • Use the correct category when creating your templates.
  • Avoid classifying promotional messages as "utility" messages.
  • Follow WhatsApp's guidelines for message categorization.

If WhatsApp detects misuse, your templates may be rejected, you could lose access to creating new ones for up to 30 days, or even face stricter restrictions.

We recommend reviewing WhatsApp’s official documentation to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
